It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The stores are dressed in holiday style, you see shoppers rushing home with their treasures and hear the familiar tunes of carols playing over the speaker as you watch the fairy lights twinkle bright red and green. The spirit of Christmas sounds magical… Unfortunately not for everyone.
There are many families, orphan’s, elderly and homeless who simply aren’t able to celebrate Christmas.
So this Christmas what can you do to give back?
Christmas can be a stressful time of year. The shops are full of people rushing around and it’s easy to loose patience with workers and fellow shoppers. Try and keep calm, being kind doesn’t cost you anything and it will make a world of difference.
It’s free, and it’s easy! You never know how much of a change you could be making in their life at that moment.
Hold An Orphan Christmas.
Do you know people in your life that have nowhere to go on Christmas? Hold an orphan Christmas and invite them to a big Christmas lunch or dinner. The more the merrier!
Donate money, food or toys to local drives. Your donation can help shelter people with nowhere to sleep, provide gifts for children who would otherwise get none and supply food hampers for people struggling to put food on the table.
Not sure where to donate? Donate online or in stores to the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal. Want to make a difference around the world as well? Your donation to the Australian Red Cross can provide clean water remote villages and provide relief in disaster areas.
Host A Charity Event
If you like hosting parties consider holding a charity fundraising event. It could be an auction, performance, morning tea, dinner or even a bake sale.
How will you be giving back this Christmas?
