The Coffs Harbour Butterfly House instantly puts a smile on your face as you get up close with nature. Stroll through the subtropical rainforest setting and watch the hundreds of butterflies show off their magnificent colours and patterns. It’s a wonderful day out for families, teens and oldies alike.
The Butterfly House was established in 1995 and has continued to bring joy to visitors for the last 21 years. It is one of Coffs Harbour’s best attractions and is much loved by the local community. I have very fond memories of visiting when I was a youngster.
The ideal viewing time is between 10 am and 2 pm as butterflies are most active during the brightest parts of the day. Don’t forget to dress to impress, as you walk around the greenhouse you may be lucky enough to have a butterfly land on you. Wear bright colours, whites or floral prints to attract the butterflies.
Inside the butterfly house is a friendly guide to help answer any of your questions and share their knowledge of butterflies with you. There is also great informative signs along the paths.
Not only is there a butterfly house but you can also lose yourself in the maze, see the live bug display, have a quiet sit down in the tea room and browse through the gift shop. Try their homemade scones and tea for only $7.50.

HOW TO GET THERE.
The Butterfly house is a short 10-minute drive south of Coffs Harbour’s town centre along the Pacific Highway. Take the Lyons Road exit and proceed across the bridge onto Pine Creek Way. Take the first right onto Strouds Road. It is right on the corner and is well signposted so you can’t miss it!
I hope you enjoy your visit as much as I did mine!
